Book Irreview: The Holy Roman Empire: A Very Short Introduction

***

I don't know much about the Holy Roman Empire.  After reading Joachim Whaley's The Holy Roman Empire: A Very Short Introduction, I still don't know much about the Holy Roman Empire, but I do know a helluva lot more about the scope and influence of the Holy Roman Empire.

Like... so many things in modern history make so much more sense to me now...

But...

Anyway...

There's a probably a little too much about the Holy Roman Empire to pack into a book the size of Oxford's Very Short Introduction series, but, for anyone who was as clueless as I was about the HRE, you could do worse than to start your journey down HRE memory lane with this one.

I can't call it great, since I found myself re-reading passages far, far more frequently than I usually need to, but...

It's pretty good.  Good place for noobs like me to start.

6/10.
